Raith Rovers collected their first point of the season but there was little for the home fans to cheer about in what was a pretty turgid 90 minutes at Stark's Park, as the Kirkcaldy side grindied out an uninspiring goal-less draw with visitors Forfar Athletic.
Forfar could have taken the lead as early as the third minute when former Raith striker Paul Tosh found a way through the home defence only to be denied by the out-rsuhing Michael Brown. At the other end Rovers were denied a good penalty claim when Alan Rattray appeared to push Paul McManus.
Young Stephen Manson, making his first competitive start for Raith, was showing some intelligent touches in midfield and the former Falkirk man pushed forward midway through the first hald before driving a low shot into the side netting.
Although Raith had the edge territorially, the two best chances of the first half fell to Forfar, with Tosh seeing his glancing header drift narrowly wide from Craig Lumsden's cross, then he fired a shot against Brown's right-hand post ten minutes from the break.
Recent French signing Armand One shot wide in early stages of the second half for Raith, then Manson made space for himself on the edge of the box before sending in a rather tame shot which was easily saved by the Loons 'keeper Sean Murdoch.
The tempo increased slightly towards the end of the game but few chances were created as the game petered out to its inevitable goal-less conclusion.
