Tony Andreu denied from the spot as Terrors draw blank at Raith
Tony Andreu saw his second-half penalty saved as 10-man Dundee United failed to keep the pressure on Hibernian following a goalless draw against Raith at Stark's Park.
The visitors started brightly with Tope Obadeyi firing over early on but Raith kept goalkeeper Cammy Bell on his toes as he made saves from Ross Callachan's strike and Jean-Yves Mvoto's header.
The Dee's hopes of walking away with three points took a nosedive when Lewis Toshney was sent off, given his second booking for a foul on Bobby Barr 10 minutes into the second half.
But they had the best opportunity to break the deadlock when Kyle Benedictus fouled Simon Murray in the area, only for Andreu's spot-kick to be brilliantly kept out by Raith custodian Kevin Cuthbert.
The point lifted Dundee United to the top of the Scottish Championship but Hibernian will replace them if they avoid defeat at Morton in the evening kick-off.
